Welcome home, Julia!

Yups, that’s right - Julia’s home!! She was discharged this morning and is now trying to sleep on her own bed. She’s still traumatised by the whole experience – who wouldn’t! Every diaper change scares her – I guess cos doctors and nurses perform tests and change tubes or what nots after every diaper change. At least, that’s what we thought might have happened.

Dad & Sis saw her surgery wound and let’s just say, I’d rather not look at it. Apparently it starts from her chest to her sides and end around the shoulder blade area!  Yups, that’s almost half her body!! I just pray that she recovers fully and do not ever have to go thru something like this again!

Overall, her doctors think that her recovery has been remarkable! She went through a major surgery on Monday and on Saturday, she’s home! Indeed a fighter she is..

To my dearest Julia, welcome home dearie. Can’t wait to have our story telling afternoons again!  I love you lots!!!

Updates on Baby Julia’s surgery

About a week ago, my beloved one-month old niece Julia,  had to go for a surgery for her heart condition. The surgery took place on Monday morning and about three hours later, we heard the good news that the surgery went well and her condition is stable. She was then sent to the intensive care unit.

The sight of a little baby girl with tubes coming out of her from everywhere and big machines surrounding her was heart-wrenching. I can only imagine how my sister and Appie feel seeing their precious daughter like that. But I know that it’s for her own well-being and that things will only get better.

Over the next 2 days as her condition improves, more and more tubes got removed but Julia remained knocked-out! On Wednesday, she finally opened her eyes.. And boy, we were all thankful and glad to see those beautiful eyes!

They started with feeding her thru the tubes and now, they are able to bottle and breast-feed her! Her intake has also been increased and is now her normal amount!

More good news – Today Julia will be transferred to a normal ward! That means she will return home soon.. Looking forward to have you back at home dearie.. We all miss you in the house.. even Cookie! :)

Baby Julia Stoelwinder

My dearest twin sister has recently given birth to a beautiful baby girl, Julia Stoelwinder. She was born on November 19, 2008.. a day before our own birthday! Yes, yes..  This entry is long overdued but better late than never!

My sister was super cute when she said that all her life she has shared her birthday with me.. so she let her daughter have a different birthday! That way, more days to celebrate!

Thankfully, Julia is a healthy baby and she’s doing well. Because of that, their doctor has advised to perform a surgery on her sometime this month for her heart condition. I pray that everything will go well and that Julia continues to be in the best of health always!
